Who is the Permanent Stay Permit (ITAP) for?

The Permanent Stay Permit (KITAP) is for anyone wishing to live and work in Indonesia for up to five years, and intending to earn an income in Indonesia during this time. Applicants can stay in Indonesia for up to 5 years with no limit on the number of entries and exits.

This visa is open to: 

• Foreigners married to an Indonesian spouse
• Foreigners planning to retire in Indonesia
• Foreign investors, directors, or commissioners in an Indonesian company (PT PMA) Note: You must have worked in the same company for at least 4 years
• Indonesian expatriates who wish to regain their citizenship

Permanent Stay Permit (ITAP) holders are also entitled to a range of other benefits, including:

• An Indonesian ID (with a 5-year validity)
• A local driver’s license (with a 5-year validity)
• Indonesian bank accounts, get credit cards, and take out loans
• Local prices at attractions, rather than tourist prices
• Unlimited entry and exit for 5 years

Finally, if you are married to an Indonesian spouse, you will be eligible for joint ownership of property.
